albums of the year '05!

1. Fastlane - New Start
It's quite simply a phenomenal collection of tunes. Pop meets RAWK in perfect proportions. I love it so. One of, if not THE, best UK bands around at the moment.

2. A Wilhelm Scream - Ruiner
This album rocks like an utter bastard. Fact. Easily as good as their first album. Melodies, gruff vocals, amazing guitarifying. Ace.

3. Valencia - This Could Be A Possibility
A fantastic collection of pop tunes, with the added ability to rock like bastards thrown in whenever they damn well please. A full assortment of handclaps, gang vocals and occasional keys fill this to the brim with an assortment of awesome.

4. Cartel - Chroma
Amazing pop punk with some of the best vocals I've heard in a long time. It's nothing new at all but it's so damn catchy. Probably my most listened to album of '05. It makes me want to dance down the street like a prize plum with a MASSIVE grin on my face.

5. Panic! At The Disco - A Fever You Can't Sweat Out
I didn't wanna like it. I really didn't. The hype continues to piss me off. But it's just so damn fun. It oozes style and it's packed with songs that make me wanna dance the night away. so what if they appear to be a bobbins live act and the vocals are too similar to Fall Out Boy?

and there's albums that should've made the top 5, contain individual tracks of 100% flawless brilliance, but for some reason, i don't love as a whole like i should:

other albums that i have loved this year (now i think about it, in no order):
Emanuel - Soundtrack To A Headrush. Literally came from nowhere. Amazing swagger, screaming and swearing.
Nightmare Of You - S/T. Unexpected again, yet amazing indie pop. These will be big.
System Of A Down - Mesmerize. How could this band be such fun? Awesome.
Houston Calls - A Collection Of Short Stories. Nice, summery pop punk with keyboards. A bit samey, but a good travelling album.
The Maple State - Until We've Settled In. Flawless keyboardy pop rock.
Dugong - Quick to the City. Stunning EP from a great UK band. Shame they split earlier this year.
Hot Hot Heat - Elevator. Fun indie pop.
